Atelier Mosaic Academy is expanding our class schedule and studio hours! Our school has been hopping this last few months, with Mosaic Studio Hours on Saturdays from 10 to 2, expanding to Tuesday evenings as well! Students which would like to take Direct Method with tiles and found objects or Indirect method(glass tabletop setting) mosaic workshops may do so during the open studio hours, though pre-registration is required. We will also be starting a Children’s Art Workshop, Tuesdays from 3 to 4:30 p.m. The gallery at the Atelier has also been a joy to our guests and students with the annual mosaic exhibition “Peace by Piece” ongoing through March 2, the night of our closing PARTY! We have been fortunate to have many of our participating artists join in the festivities, Mauro Tacconi from Florence with his Pietra Dura Masterpieces, Mary Ponchio with her Picassiete “Serenity”, Jennifer Bailey with a mixed media work “Mangoes”, Jacki Gran with her smalti “Dancer”, Eduardo Marquez, a master with vitreous glass, Alissa Turtletaub with a smalti work which she completed while at Orsoni, Sharon Stauffer with a Cezanne study in smalti and Simon Skolnik with an ancient fish study in marble both joined us for our open events. Other artists who were juried into the exhibition this year were Carl & Sandra Bryant with “Cello Player”, Shawn Newton with “Eve”, you may remember this dimensional work from last years SAMA conference, Ingrid Pisano with a tribute to Hockney, and Liza Wheeler with “Jesus” a wonderful mixed media mosaic icon. We give thanks and congratulations to all of our artists and the guests, which have visited the exhibition.
